History

From what I can remember, those having school dinners were first selected by year and form/house, then into two sittings. These would alternate each week. There was on average 50 tables. Sometimes the staff got thing wrong, and there wasn't enough places. You usually had the same table number all through the school year.

There was always a teacher or prefect at your dinner table to see fair play with the gravy. 8 sat around the table, with 2 to fetch the dinner, two to clear the dinner while another two fetch the pudding, the same two clearing away, and one to wipe the table. That left the teacher or prefect who did sod all!
